Gilman Scholarship Available To U.S. Citizens For Study Abroad Programs

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is now open for the Summer 2017 term for students who are in the process of applying or have already been accepted to a study abroad program for the upcoming summer. Students can apply for up to $5,000 to cover their trip expenses.

The goal is to provide students with funds to increase the number of United States citizens enriching their knowledge abroad in fields like engineering.

To be eligible, students must be recipients of a Federal Pell Grant and be in good academic standing at an accredited college or university in the United States. The program encourages students going to non-traditional countries for their study program as well as the study of critical need languages.

The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. For more information or to apply, visit www.iie.org/programs/gilman-scholarship-program
