The Miami Dade College Foundation will honor the 2016 Hall of Fame class on April 26 at 6 p.m. in the Hilton Miami Downtown, 1601 Biscayne Blvd.
The event recognizes graduates who have accomplished profound exemplary achievements within their respective fields. This year the MDC Foundation will honor inductees in business, architecture, education, accounting, engineering, law, visual arts and other areas of study.
The 2016 Hall of Fame class includes Steve Rothaus, LGBT issues reporter with the Miami Herald, Telemundo Network national correspondent Lori Montenegro and Booker T. Washington Senior High School principal William Aristide.
Since 2005, the MDC Foundation has honored more than 100 alumni for their notable accomplishments including 2005 recipient Belkys Nerey, news anchor at WSVN 7 News.
“You don’t have to be rich, you just have to want to be better, and signing up for classes at MDC is the first step toward reaching your goal,” Nerey said. “I think it’s wonderful that through MDC, people can get an education and work toward changing their lives for the better.“
Ceremony tickets are $300 per person. They can be purchased online through the MDC Foundation website. All profits will be used for scholarship opportunities to assist students. For more information, contact the Miami Dade College Foundation at (305) 237-3240 or mdcalumni.com/halloffame
