The Idea Center To Offer Computer Science Masterclass

The Idea Center will offer CS50x Miami, a 20-week computer science masterclass, from January 19 to June 3.

CS50x Miami will cover the basics of coding and programming and have a heavy focus on coding languages C and Python. The course is an adaptation of Harvard University’s CS50 program, which serves as an introduction to computer science and programming.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Hands-on labs will take place either on Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m. or on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

“It will be useful not just for students on a tech team but also those who wish to communicate with designers and developers better and apply a technical background to a current job,” said Urbano Baz, program coordinator and co-instructor of the course, as well as a CS50x Miami alumnus. “I hope I can share the love I now have for computers with our students and get them just as excited.”

Prospective students must register for CS50x Miami by Jan. 18.

Virtual information sessions for the program will be held Dec. 7 and Jan. 12 at noon via Webex. Students can register here to receive a link.

The course costs $499 and is open to students, faculty and staff.
