‘Tis the season to be jolly. Now that Halloween has passed, everyone is waiting for Christmas to come.

Here are my top five Christmas movies to watch:

5. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

This is the story of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, who is bored of Halloween and intrigued by the newfound Christmas Town. It’s a brilliant animation with a family-friendly storyline.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a spectacular film to watch as you dwell in the Christmas spirit after Halloween ends. It’s a joyous transition between the holidays and it shows the immense contrast between the two popular times of the year.

4. How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Who knew that an entire story can exist inside of a snowflake? In this town of Whoville, all the townsfolk love Christmas. However, the story centers around the Grinch, a nasty and disgusting creature, who despises everything about the holiday. Visually, the film is spectacular and features Jim Carrey, who plays the Grinch. Through this comedic and delightful movie, you see the Grinch transformed into a joyful being that spreads lasting positivity in the town.

This film exemplifies not only the spirit and unison of Christmas, but it shows the meaning of friendship and how perspectives can change.

3. Elf (2003)

Despite being a modernised version of a Christmas film, this movie has an immense following because of the comedic work of Will Ferrell, who plays a human who was raised as an elf. Buddy moves to New York City in search of his biological father. In the process, he learns a lot about human flaws and culture.

The film is a delightful comedy because of its  relatable nature and ability to bring joy to a mundane world.

2. The Polar Express (2004)

The Polar Express is almost one of the top movies solely for its journey of self-discovery within a mythical world.

A young hero boy, played by Daryl Sabara, boards a magical train that takes him to the North Pole and Santa Claus’ home, and with this he learns that the power of Christmas comes from believing in the magic and having faith in oneself.

Overall, the illustrations throughout the movie are visually spectacular and dazzling to the young eye. This compelling film brings delight to the audience and feels like a genuine rollercoaster ride through the enchanted world of Christmas.

1. Home Alone (1990)

Leaving an eight-year-old troublemaker alone at homer is a recipe for disaster, but it brings with it an intriguing storyline.

Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, is left behind while his family goes to Paris for a Christmas vacation. The boy has a blast, jumping on his parents’ bed, making a mess everywhere and eating an entire pizza. However, trouble appears when two burglars try to make their way into the house.

Home Alone is a family-friendly movie that elicits a haughty laugh and a unifying ambiance while observing the clever tactics of a young boy.
