Retired Professor Chronicles Travels Through Photo Book

Christopher Migliaccio, a former environmental science professor at Miami Dade College, released a photo book entitled Viriditas: The Natural Diversity of Costa Rica on Oct. 30.

The photo book documents several of the diverse ecosystems that Migliaccio encountered while traveling to Costa Rica. This is the sixth photo book that he’s published, including Three Worlds Touching in 2014 and Adventures in the Land of Gallo Pinto in 2019.

“These books are creative outlets for me that celebrate the greenness and fertility of life,” Migliaccio said. “They are a way to have a permanent record of my art.”

Migliaccio, who officially retired at the end of November, worked at Wolfson Campus for more than 32 years. He was also one of several lead professors in The Honors College prior to his retirement.

He has a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Miami, and a master’s in science education from Florida International University.

Printed copies range from $120 to $200 and PDF copies are $11.99. The photobook is available at www.blurb.com/b/9717095-viriditas.
