Award-winning student journalist Andres Jimenez, a sports writer with The Reporter, has landed an internship with radio station 790 AM The Ticket.

Jimenez, 21, started on the Zaslow with Romberg & Tobin morning show on Feb. 3. The internship will extend  through the end of the spring semester.

His responsibilities will include: doing research, editing audio, screening calls and taking notes.

“I feel like if it wasn’t for my time at The Reporter it would’ve been very difficult to have landed this internship,” Jimenez said. “I hope [this opportunity] can help me transition into the broadcasting [field].”

During his tenure at The Reporter, Jimenez  has served as the paper’s sports editor, covering basketball, baseball and volleyball. This past October he was awarded first place in sports writing by the Florida College System Publications Association at their annual banquet.

Jimenez has also taken photos and written columns for the paper.
