The Reporter Named Best State College Paper For Sixth Straight Year

The Reporter, the student newspaper at Miami Dade College, has been named the top state college student newspaper in Florida for the sixth consecutive year by the Florida College System Publications Association. The conference took place on Oct. 13-15 in Orlando, Fla.

The paper placed in 14 of 18 categories at the FCSPA awards banquet including five first-place awards in the following categories: Nicolette Perdomo, News Story; Adriana Falero, Feature Story; Cindy Matheus, General Column; Reporter Staff, Design; Gabrielle Rueda, Advertising Design.

Competition was based on newspapers printed during the 2015-16 school year. The Reporter prints 15 issues per year on a biweekly cycle. It covers all eight MDC campuses.

Jaynell Perera

Jaynell Perera, 19, is a film production major at North Campus. Perera, a 2015 graduate of Miami Springs Senior High School, will serve as a photo editor for The Reporter during the 2016 summer semester. She aspires to own a production company in the future. Her hobbies include making Youtube videos, photography, scuba diving, traveling, hiking and camping.
