Reporter Alumnus Lands Job As News Producer At Telemundo Denver

Giovanni Del Fa, who served as Sports Editor for The Reporter during the 2017-18 school year, has landed a job as a news producer for Telemundo Denver.

Del Fa, 22, is scheduled to start on Feb 8. His responsibilities will include adding, removing and organizing stories to create a newscast that flows adequately.

For the past five months, he worked as an associate producer for Telemundo 51 in Miami covering the elections, Hurricane Eta, and the first release of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“I’m used to moving and I enjoy moving, but I am a little nervous since the move is across the country,” Del Fa said. “It’s a great opportunity though, so I am excited.”

Del Fa started his career at The Reporter, covering the baseball, softball and volleyball teams. He won a first-place award from the Florida College System Publications Association in the Sports Column category in 2018.

At Miami Dade College he was also part of MDC InFocus—a show created by the Office of Communications to give students on-air experience.

Del Fa earned an associate’s degree in mass communication from Kendall Campus in 2018. Last August, he graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

In Gainesville, he was a reporter for Noticias WUFT, a student-run Spanish television station owned by UF. He also wrote for ESPN Gainesville, the student affiliate of ESPN at UF.
