Publix Super Markets is offering a paid internship program for college students who want to get a chance at real-world work experience.

The program lasts from 10 to 12 weeks—from May to Augustat the company’s facilities in Lakeland, Florida. Interns will engage in hands-on experiences, work with professionals, do challenging projects, and develop valuable work skills. Like a real job, interns who participate get paid and are expected to work 40 hours a week, though hours vary by department..

The departments interns have the opportunity to work in business analysis & reporting (BAR), corporate accounting, corporate purchasing, corporate quality assurance, distribution, facilities, human resources, information technology, loss prevention, manufacturing, pharmacy, public affairs, real estate, and risk management.

Applicants must be enrolled in college and must meet criteria on the major they are pursuing, as well as other necessities depending on the department offering the internship.

Summer selections are made by late March.

Alejandra Zimmermann

Alejandra Zimmermann, 19, is a mass communications/journalism major in the Honors College at Kendall Campus. Zimmermann, a 2015 graduate of G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School, will serve as a staff writer in the briefing section of The Reporter during the 2015-16 school year. While at Braddock, she served as a section editor at the GHB Times. Zimmermann aspires to become a journalist for The New York Times.
