New Dean Of Students At Kendall Campus

Stephen Joyner began working as the new dean of students at Kendall Campus on June 29.

Joyner has more than 20 years of experience in student services and student affairs. For the past eight years, he worked at the executive level of  administration at Florida International University.

“I’m excited to be here and I’m looking forward to meeting all the students and to represent the students at Miami Dade College,” Joyner said.

Joyner will have three main responsibilities as dean of students. He will oversee the new student center, office of recruitment, international student services, testing, retention, transition services, ACCESS, academic affairs, student life organizations and career advisement.

The other piece of his job is to manage the office of the dean of students.

“When students violate the student code of conduct they come to my office and my job is to investigate the case,” Joyner said.

Joyner, who earned his Ph.D in political science at Georgia State University in Atlanta, is also a member of the campus president’s cabinet.  

Nicolette Perdomo

Nicolette Perdomo, 19, is a Mass Communications/Journalism major in the Honors College at Kendall Campus. She will serve as Editor-In-Chief/Briefing Editor for the summer 2015 issue. During the 2015-2016 school year, Perdomo served as staff writer for The Reporter.Perdomo was home schooled and earned her high school diploma in 2013. She aspires to become a broadcast journalist.
