Berta Ríos is serving as the new chair of the School of Continuing Education and Professional Development at North Campus. Her new post began March 18.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Ríos left the island to pursue a higher education. She has a bachelor’s from the University of Rochester, a master’s from Duke University and a doctorate from Boston College.
In 2013, she joined Miami Dade College as an adjunct faculty. A year later, Ríos left the nonprofit sector, having worked for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society, to fulfill her dream of working for MDC. She was hired to lead the School of Continuing Education at West Campus.
As chair, she seeks to advance the College’s mission of changing lives through education by strengthening noncredit offerings and connecting with the community.
