MOAD Presents Lecture By Martinican Author Raphaël Confiant

Martinican author Raphaël Confiant will discuss his literary work in connection to Where The Oceans Meet, an art exhibition on display at Miami Dade College’s Museum of Art and Design, 600 Biscayne Blvd., on Oct. 26 at 4 p.m.

Confiant, 68, will read his published work on the origin of Creole culture while making connections to Caribbean writer Édouard Glissant.

“The program presents an opportunity to get closer to the intellectual and philosophical musings of one of the Caribbean’s most important thinkers,” said MOAD spokesperson Juliana Gutierrez.

Confiant is considered a pioneer of the Créolité movement, which promotes the use of the Antillean Creole language as a means to portray the cultural and linguistic diversity of the Antilles.

The event is free and open to the public.
