MDC President Receives Civic Leader of the Year Award

Miami Dade College President Eduardo J. Padrón received the 2016 Civic Leader of the Year award presented by the the Council of the Americas during the 22nd annual Bravo Business Awards. The award highlights “prestigious recognition honors excellence and leadership in business, policy and social development in the Americas.” The awards ceremony took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami on Oct. 28.

“It’s truly an honor to have been chosen as the Civic Leader of the Year. I strongly believe in the Council of the Américas’ commitment to economic and social development, as well as the advancement of democracy for communities all over the world,” Padrón said. “This award is thanks to the hard work and dedication of all the faculty, staff and students at MDC, a place where we constantly innovate to ensure our students are prepared to succeed in an evolving and challenging global economy.”

Ciro Salcedo

Ciro Salcedo, 19, is a mass communications major at Kendall Campus. Salcedo, a 2016 graduate of Felix Varela Senior High School, will serve as A/E editor for The Reporter during the 2017-2018 school year. He aspires to become a screenwriter or filmmaker.
