Letter To The Editor

Screen shot of the column. In regards to “Low Testosterone And The Left” on Vol. 8, Issue 13April 3, 2018:

I am writing to you today concerning the publication of an article.  The article is on page 15 on political views. The author is Alexander Jürgen Klemm. The article is filled with inaccurate and pretty much false science. I understand it’s a view and it should be treated as such, but we need to be careful when it is published in a school newspaper of higher education. This article starts with an agenda and it just keeps going with it, at some point it became right out offensive. As we know, this inaccurate use of scientific studies is now causing some of the lack of faith in journalism all over the nation.

In any case: It is well known that testosterone levels drop as we age, therefore age is the number one determinant of Low T. This issue affects almost half of men over the age of 45.  In any case, attached is an article from the Cleveland Clinic on reasons for Low T:

Now, saying that all those people are left wing democrats…it’s simply inaccurate. Again, if this is his opinion, then okay. Portraying it as “research” and a “discovery,” I am sorry, but no.

Sincerely,

Rene Choy, assistant professor of economics at North Campus
