Joseph J. LoRusso College Scholarship Essay Contest

The biannual Joseph J. LoRusso College Scholarship essay contest is offered to anyone who attends an accredited U.S. college or university during the fall semester of 2015.

JL Law, a law firm based in Ft. Lauderdale, is offering a $1,000 scholarship to the contestant that receives the most Facebook “Likes” on their essay by Dec. 15.

The deadline for submission of the 500 word essay is Nov. 30.

Students are required to answer a prompt and write an essay that answers the question: Late last year, Miami launched a new bike sharing program that allows people in the Miami area to rent a bicycle at an hourly rate or by purchasing a membership. Bicycle accidents can cause serious injuries that may leave victims with significant medical issues. Under what circumstances should the company that runs the  program be held liable for accidents in which their bikes were involved? Why?
