Hialeah Campus Professor Appointed To PTK Honors Council

Kelly Kennedy-Everett, an English and literature professor at Hialeah Campus, has been selected to be part of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Program Council

Kennedy-Everett started as the Service Learning Representative on July 28. She is part of a 10-person committee that develops Honors projects and curriculum for PTK students.

“I really love doing this,” Kennedy-Everett said. “It’s kind of what I do in my free time instead of watching television.”

Kennedy-Everett has been a professor at Miami Dade College since January of 1993. She served as the North Campus PTK advisor for five years, before transferring to Hialeah Campus in 2012.

In addition, the professor has also served as a service-learning faculty co-facilitator for the Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy at Hialeah Campus.

Kennedy-Everett earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Florida International University, and a master’s in teaching English to speakers of other languages from Nova Southeastern University. She also has a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Phoenix.
