Former Reporter Editor Lands Internship At Univision

Nicolette Perdomo, who served as Editor-In-Chief of The Reporter during the 2015-16 school year, landed a paid internship at Univision.  

Perdomo, 20, will start her internship on June 6. She will report to Adriana Vila Soto, the senior director for experiential marketing at Univision.

“I am super proud of myself, and excited because I worked really hard at school and at The Reporter. To get this on my own is a big deal for me,” Perdomo said.

Her duties will extend to assisting the events and activation team, where she will help with the planning of events such as the 2016 Premios Juventud.

Her internship at Univision will run through Aug.12.  

As editor of The Reporter, Perdomo oversaw a staff of more than 75 students. She assigned, edited and wrote for the news and briefing sections. She also received the 2016 Outstanding Student in Journalism Award at Kendall Campus.

Perdomo graduated from The Honors College at Miami Dade College this past spring semester, earning an associate of arts degree in mass communications and journalism.

She will be attending the University of Florida this fall.

Hector Gonzalez

Hector Gonzalez, 33, is returning to Miami Dade College where he will be pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Film at the North Campus. He will serve as a photographer and staff writer for the paper this year. Gonzalez obtained his Associate Degree in Mass Communications during the 2011-2012 school year while serving as Sports Editor for The Reporter. He earned the Best Sports Story award from the Florida College System Activities Association in 2011. He has also worked as freelance sports writer for the South Florida Sun Sentinel and the Miami Herald.
