Alienware Scholarship Offered To Students

Alienware has created a partnership with MAGIC that gives full scholarships for the Animation & Game Art and Game Development & Design academic programs. Alienware is an American computer hardware subsidiary of Dell, Inc. Alienware hardware includes video gaming usage.

To qualify for the scholarship, students need to be admitted and enrolled in Miami Dade College’s Animation Art or Game Development and Design Program. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.00 or higher for eligibility. Students can also be deemed a high possibility as determined by the department chair. Applicants must submit a letter of reference from a teacher or counselor that clarifies the student’s career in animation and gaming. Students must show a financial need that is based on federal financial aid standards and the College’s Financial Aid Office.

The applicants are required to fill out an application and submit three drawings or sketches as well as a 500-word essay that describes a game concept that they would to like create.

Edmarys Menendez, 20, is an English major at Kendall Campus. Menendez, who graduated from South Miami Senior High School in 2013, will serve as a staff writer for The Reporter during the 2015-16 school year. She aspires to become an author and professor.
